Recognising the personality styles of team members can enhance the development of interpersonal skills crucial for successful collaboration. Incorporating a feedback element provides individuals with insight into how they are perceived by others. Merging this self-assessment with the views of peers can lead to improved interpersonal relations, rapport building, and ultimately, a more proficient team player.

Team performance begins with individual performance. So, what do team members need to do individually to contribute to their team’s success.

The Whats My Team Member Style-Facilitator Guide features optional activities that allow participants to practice using flexibility when working with other styles. These activities utilise Feedback Forms (completed by team members prior to the training session) and StylePlay. Each Participant Guide provides a worksheet for positive personal action planning, a diagram for creating a team profile, and team action planning.

Uses for What’s My Team Member Style?

What’s My Team Member Style? is an excellent way to kick off any team-building training and can be used as a stand-alone tool or as part of a larger programme. It is most effective for members of intact teams who are in the training session together. The assessment can also assist team members in identifying work roles that fit with their team member styles.

How it works:

What’s My Team Member Style is designed to help individuals identify how they behave on their team, capitalize on their strengths, and learn how to interact effectively with their team members.

The What's My Team Member Style assessment starts with an 18-item inventory that takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Each item is a pair of statements relating to team member behaviour. With a limit of five points, assessment-takers distribute points between two statements in each pair, indicating the degree to which they feel each statement describes their behaviour.

Scoring the assessment reveals the "My Team Member Style Profile" and a dominant preference for one or more of four personal styles: direct, spirited, considerate, and systematic. In addition to the self-assessment, the What's My Team Member Style Feedback Form allows individuals to gauge how they are perceived by others on their team.
